So, you have a fantastic website and you have done some Pay per Click (PPC) marketing but you are now looking for something a bit more long term and more sustainable. You have done your research and you know that you need to do something known as organic SEO but you are not really sure where to begin or what is involved, what do you need to do?
The first objective is to establish what your keywords are going to be. These don’t want to be too vague, “plumber”, “florist” or “electrician” will get you nowhere unless you have an extremely large budget. Focus on your strengths and where you are based so something like “wedding bouquets in Sydney” or “emergency plumber in Perth” will get you results far quicker and cost you less money – and we understand that this is important.
You then need to build high quality links to your site. Quality is far more important than quantity but one or two will have very little if any effect. NEVER be tempted to buy links separately from an SEO package. Short cuts here will cost you long term and potentially damage your site. You then need to make sure that you content is keyword dense. This means the landing pages such as the Home page, About us page and then your products or service pages. This content doesn’t need updating regular but you do need to update some content.
This is where blogs come in very useful. You can post blogs to your website on a “Blog” page where you write about subjects that are relevant to your business. For instance, a florist could write about different types of flowers or maybe subjects connect to florists such as weddings, anniversaries or other special days. The blogs need to be posted regularly and by that we mean at least twice a week. You then need to link to your blog so others can find it. Facebook and Twitter are great places for this.
This is something that does need to be maintained and once you start you can’t really stop. This can be time consuming and take you away from your core business. It can also be difficult thinking of the next topics and keeping it relevant so many business employ the services of professional company to help them with this. This will ensure that your content is regular updated and that your website is working for you to get you the results that we all desire.
