One thing that you need to take into account is that the deal must be genuine and really offer your potential clients more for their dollar. This has to be something that your clients want and not something that you just want to give away. Adding value is crucial and below we have outlined some of the most common mistakes that are made by marketers and techniques that you should adopt.

  1. Money off or to win something

Everybody likes a bargain or an opportunity to win something that they really want or need. Money off is great, as are 2-for-1 offers as long as it for a product that is appropriate. Remember, there are somethings that people may not want two of so always bear this in mind. Free gifts must be desirable otherwise what is the incentive? For your campaign to be successful, you need to be offering something that your competitors aren’t.

  1. Never force your audience to take part

Pressure selling is a big turn-off for most people so again something that should be avoided. In fact, if you take this approach you are likely to lose customers rather than gain them. On a similar line, never appear desperate as this can set alarm bells ringing and once again have a negative impact. Engage with your audience, don’t pressure them and you won’t go far wrong!

  1. Always stay relevant

Keep your promotions relevant. Avoid using an idea or a theme that is out of date, irrelevant or which may alienate a large proportion of your customers. For example, avoid politics unless you are in the business of politics. Do your best to attract and interest, not offend or repel people.

  1. Be truthful in your claims and deals
