When I go out and about and people talk to me about SEO, one of the first questions that they ask is regarding who they should choose. There are literally thousands of SEO companies out there so how do you know who is any good? As we have said previously, SEO involves using a combination of techniques so simply filling your site with title tags and keywords won’t be enough in itself to take you to the top of the rankings, and if done incorrectly can negatively impact on your sites performance. Make sure that your content is informative, relevant and useful, not just a list of keywords that you would like to rank highly for.

The images that you include on your website is another important factor, something that can often go overlooked by some so called SEO experts. Attaching the appropriate ALT tags to images can really help your pages to get picked up by the search engines. Including relevant information is far more important than keyword stuffing when you are adding these tags so take that into consideration.

It is worth noting that when it comes to images, the chances are they will receive a higher ranking than both maps and videos – features that are included on most websites. The URLs on your site are also important. Once again, they should be clear, concise and to the point. Strings of random numbers and letters will mean little to you and the same applies to Google. Google likes things that are simple, straightforward and easy to understand so make sure that you tidy up your URLs.

Of course, you can make as many changes as you like to your website but if the overall user experience isn’t of a high enough quality then your work will count for very little. Your pages should load quickly, content should be easy to find and we can’t stress how important it is for that information to be relevant and informative. Content should also be updated regularly, perhaps through blogs or related articles and this work needs to be continuous.
